Transformation

Transformation. It has a ‘coming out’ kind of energy surrounding it. Like coming out of the womb, the closet, the cave, or the chrysalis. There’s a push. A breaking out. What was hidden is revealed. There’s a truth, a kind of honesty about it.

And it’s never easy. But it’s worth the work.

It’s not easy to be honest sometimes. But the benefits outweigh the cost. The price of keeping the truth hidden, the real you hidden, the authenticity hidden behind some kind of mask, well, it’s high. So much energy goes into keeping up the image of what isn’t real, honest, or true. The illusion is so much more work than the authenticity.

The work of transformation is messy, too. It’s never linear. And sometimes we devolve into soup. It’s a fact of life that wings are earned. We come to the place where the pain of staying the same outweighs the pain of change. And then we take the risk. We push a little harder. We rebirth, reinvent and emerge as something new.

We change our image and beliefs about ourselves. We start to change what we’ve been telling ourselves all these years.

And so often, it’s who or what we were all along and we just didn’t think we had the right or courage to be. Not out loud or publicly anyway. That’s what is emerging. It’s like all the banana peels and candy wrappers are falling away, and the purest, truest, most beautiful person emerges from under that trash heap we lived under for so long.

But no more. We are ready for change. For something new to be birthed, or resurrected, within us.

I wonder… in what way are you breaking out, breaking through, moving forward, or changing for the better?

I’m cheering you on my friend. Let’s do this together.

The tonic for today, distilled into three simple words: I’m coming out.
