Transitions
Sometimes transitions are a graceful pirouette. Sometimes they are a hard right turn. Sometimes they are a left that feels right. Often, transitions are a series of small decisions that lead somewhere other than the previous trajectory.
As humans, we like the familiar patterns. Change can feel clumsy.
Pivoting takes a great deal of grace sometimes. It’s a choice.
Transitions are part of life. They are inevitable. Pivoting is a mindset and skill that is going to be necessary along the road, especially when one is a dreamer. Maybe even more so for us. Developing the graceful pivot is a good tool to have in the dreamer toolkit.
I have a little experience with pivoting. Okay, a lot. As a dreamer, my dreams have been shattered more than once. But that doesn’t make me unviable as a dreamer. It makes me a resilient dreamer with the grace and flexibility to pivot to a new dream.
I wonder… is it time for you to pivot and transition again?
Know this: Don’t confuse a viable path with being viable as a dreamer. Those are very different things. And you will only know if the path is truly viable by asking your own holy heart, and then maybe taking a step or two in that direction. Sometimes you know what not to do by simply doing it. You live, then learn. No one else has that answer, so don’t give away your agency or outsource your power. Because as a dreamer, you see what others can’t. That is the gift in you. It is imperative that you not ask permission to be a believer or to believe.
The tonic, distilled to three simple things for this day: Transitions are part of life. Make friends with the graceful pivot. Believe in the believer within.
