Raise the Bar
Raise the bar, not just the glass. After years of settling and making do, trying to fit inside a system that is now at least 2 sizes too small for me to fit into any longer, I am raising the bar.
I wonder…do you ever settle for less than wonderful because you believe you can’t change or impact the system?
I write this blog for the disenfranchised dreamer on the edge of visible who sometimes feels like they are going around in predetermined and prescribed circles.
You tried to follow the road signs, equations and formulas. But they were useless rubbish. They led you off course. Off your true path. I know this from firsthand experience. But I also know from experience that I have a life of pages waiting to be filled. Nothing is set in stone.
There is magic and wonder in the strong yet completely invisible pull on the tiny needle of a compass. If you have the courage to pay attention, trust it and believe in it, the thing about an inner compass is that, no matter what direction you go, it will always tell you where your true north is and help you make a course correction. It takes an inner tuning in, listening. Moment by moment. Step by step.
Are you tired of moving round in circles? Settling for just getting by? Isn’t it time to raise the bar higher? Build the table you want a seat at?
I muse on the eraser end of my pencil. The eraser is like forgiveness. Then you write again.
Here’s the truth, my friends. You can change the system. You have the right to your rights. But you have to follow the invisible pull on the needle within your heart, not the faded road signs because they are just telling you to yield. Or stop. Or wrong way go back. Or there’s a sale on something that will buy you happiness and distract you for 5 minutes.
It’s a bunch of twaddle.
This is why you were born a dreamer. Because you can imagine what is not yet. A more just world for future generations is a very real new world we see coming in our dreams. And we can usher it in if, and only if, we follow the inner compass, course correct, plant the seeds of change, and do not settle for anything less than wonderful. Raise the bar.
The tonic, distilled to three simple things for today: It will take some balls. But it probably took a lot of balls to get where you are now. So let’s roll.
