Give it Time
When you are creating that which has yet to be seen, remember to give it time. When you are dreaming a new life, a new job, income or project or a whole new world into being, remember to give it time, my friend. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but by golly, it was built. Stone by stone, and moment by moment, that great city was conceived and constructed.
I wonder… what concept is under construction in your imagination right now?
Like Thoreau, I applaud building castles in the air. That’s where they begin. They are conceived in the imagination. The foundations come later. You will know when it’s time to make it visible and construct the platform. Your heart will know. As long as you keep that dream in focus, you will, at some point, start seeing pieces show up in your reality. Then you will know what to do with the pieces, because of all the time and energy you put into visualizing it.
But one of the worst dream-killers is worth, or rather, the lack of it.
I have spent a lifetime being patronized for my dreams. I know that deep pain of being told my dreams have no merit, value or worth. Unfortunately, I know well the sting of being told that my ideas, hopes and aspirations are not viable. Which my child-self translated to me not being viable either. How quickly the fruit withers on the vine in that environment. But that dream is still viable, no matter what non-believers say or think. And I keep believing in my dreams, no matter what.
So let it incubate, marinate, stew it over. A love it so.
We are the ones, my beloved, who are going to love that baby dream the most. We are the ones entrusted with its care. We must protect it from those who do not yet have the eyes to see, keeping it safe as it grows inside us. Give it your attention and praise. And give it time to grow.
Distilled to three simple words for today: Give. It. Time.
